You may be coping, but it is taking more out of you.
Anxiety, low mood or stress can quietly affect sleep, motivation, relationships and the things you keep putting off. Therapy offers a place to understand what is happening and begin working on it practically.
- Worry continuing after the immediate problem has passed.
- Ordinary tasks taking more effort than they used to.
- Withdrawing or putting off things that matter.
- Feeling flat, tense or mentally exhausted.
Using Medicare for therapy
A valid Better Access referral and available Medicare services are required before claiming a rebate.
Pay A$121.55 on the day. The standard A$101.55 rebate leaves the usual A$20 out of pocket.
Clear pricing, with Medicare rebates
The standard therapy fee is A$121.55. What remains out of pocket depends on the pathway you use.
| Payment pathway | Session fee | Benefit or rebate | What you pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| Medicare-referred Valid Better Access referral and available services required | A$121.55 | A$101.55 | A$20.00 |
| Private health extras No GP referral required | A$121.55 | Varies; claim using your paid receipt | A$121.55 minus any fund benefit |
| Self-funded No GP referral required | A$121.55 | None | A$121.55 |
For Medicare: the full A$121.55 fee is paid on the day, then the standard A$101.55 rebate is processed electronically back to your nominated bank account, leaving the usual A$20 out of pocket. Wiser Minds does not bulk bill. You need a valid Better Access referral and available Medicare services. Eligible clients can claim up to 10 individual services per calendar year. For private health extras: Wiser Minds provides a paid receipt for you to submit to your fund. You can claim Medicare or private health extras for an appointment, not both.
After hours and Saturday appointments
The fees above apply to weekday appointments before 5pm. A limited number of after hours and Saturday appointments are available at the Blacktown office or by telehealth. They carry a higher gap, and the standard A$101.55 Medicare rebate still applies for eligible clients.
Self-funded and private health clients pay the same session fee for those times. NDIS, WorkCover and CTP appointments are billed under their own funding arrangements and are not affected. Places are limited, so mention your preferred times when you enquire.
Therapy with a clear direction.
I will help you make sense of what is happening, identify the patterns that keep getting in the way and agree with you on what would make therapy useful. Sessions remain practical, with progress reviewed against the goals we set together.
Andrew draws on CBT, ACT and Motivational Interviewing according to the person and their goals, rather than applying one fixed program.
Where we see clients
Andrew sees clients at the Blacktown office, which is close to Blacktown station and the Westpoint precinct, with timed street parking and paid car parks nearby. Directions are sent with the first appointment confirmation. People travel in from across the Blacktown area, including Seven Hills, Mount Druitt, Rooty Hill, Doonside and Quakers Hill, and from further afield in Parramatta and Penrith. If travelling is difficult or you would rather attend from home, the same sessions are available by secure telehealth.
